Focus Center uses a Client-Centered approach.

Client-Centered therapy allows the client to participate in the therapy session, allowing for the sessions to be more comfortable and acceptable for your desired outcome.  Each session will be specifically tailored to the individual.

The initial session consists of the following elements:

  1. Pretalk
  2.  (For Hypnosis Clients) Suggestibility Checking
  3. Session
  4. Post Talk or Review

In the "Pretalk" we discuss what you want to heal.  At this time we will discuss what is troubling you and explore the possibility of other causes for matter at hand.  It may be that what you thought your problem was, is really rooted in something else.  We work on the "whole picture".

If you're interested in hypnosis, next we discuss the suggestions you feel will be most beneficial to you and your goal.

Example:  If you're trying to quit smoking and we suggest you replace a cigarette with a glass of apple juice, it's not going to work if you are allergic to apples.  We discuss what YOU want to replace cigarettes with and that is used as your suggestion.  Together we create a "script" for healing in your own words.

Then we do a brief test to see how easy your suggestibility is.  I've never known anyone who could understand and comprehend what I am saying to not be able to be hypnotized, some just take longer to relax which is what hypnosis is.

Your session is done with soft music in the background  For hypnosis you sit in a comfortable chair or lay down on a sofa.  A pillow and blanket is provided if you need it.  All this helps with your relaxation.  Hypnosis consists of the Induction (the initiation of a relaxed, daydream state), Healing or Directive, Post Hypnotic Suggestion(s) and the Count Out.

For Reiki and Acupressure, you sit in a comfortable chair or day down on a Reiki/Massage table  A pillow and blanket is provided if needed.

Last is the Post Talk/Review.  Here, you discuss how you feel and any suggestions or questions you have.  You're allowed as much time as you feel you need to discuss and review your session.  We don't want any client to leave with questions.

You are encouraged to learn and use learned techniques outside of the session.  All hypnosis sessions are recorded and you receive a tape.  If you practice these, it will enable you to move much faster with therapy.  It is also a great way of taking control of your life.

How Many Sessions are Needed?

For most people, depending on the purpose, a few sessions are all that are necessary to effect change.  Some issues may require additional sessions.  Since Hypnotherapy works with the unconscious mind rather than the conscious mind, change is effected at a far deeper level.  Change is thereby rapid and does not require many therapeutic sessions.
